IOCC Emergency Response Update
Alaska Floods
On October 12, 2025, remnants of Typhoon Halong swept Western Alaska, impacting the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta. The typhoon produced a storm surge that flooded villages, pushing homes off their foundations and causing widespread destruction.
More than 1,500 people were forced from their homes.
The flooding also directly impacted the Orthodox community, sweeping away St. Michael Church in Kwigillingok and the home of the serving priest.
