Lara and her family fled from Syria to Jordan on the back of a truck carrying sheep. The journey was especially traumatic for her three hearing-impaired children, who couldn’t understand what was happening. After arriving at the Azraq refugee camp, Lara found IOCC’s health clinic and scheduled hearing assessments. Following their meeting with an audiologist, all three were provided with hearing aids and batteries.
Lara saw an immediate difference. The children’s hearing aids enabled them to communicate and play with others. Their school performance improved dramatically.
